Thatcher's Children is a London Punk Group. It is named, I think as a joke, after former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. I do not know if your friend meant it as a compliment or not.

Thatchers children have been handed down her philosophy of their being no such thing as society. We are all therefore just making as much as we can, any way we can ,with no thoughts of anyone else.
To be a Thatchers child you would show signs of embrasing and living this philosophy.

He could mean you are part of the generation born during the time Mrs. Thatcher was in power or he could mean you are a right winger who has a dream to own your own home but hates miners and Argentina. Who knows?

He means your formative years were lived while she was in office between 1979 and 1991 I believe. This is supposed to make you materialistic and not believe in society just like Maggie. She wasn't perfect but I think she was a magnificent prime minister and a political giant.
