Seriously, I think everyone here (including myself) is sad to a degree since we waste so much breath and life hanging about our wee virtual world. It's a shame when you think about how much more constructively kids used their time twenty years ago but now you have a whole generation of Internet addicts. Chat, cybersex, flame wars, online gaming and gambling, and even these innocent message boards are all addictive and wasteful. I'm eighteen but some people here are twice my age or even older and still as much into a virtual existence as I am. Come on people. Shut down your computers and experience more life in the real world. I promised myself I'd totally stop chatting in a few months. Talk is cheap but it's a start. :-)

Yeah, this is addictive, and I'm spending here much more time than planned (but hey, I've just discovered Y!A :) ), yet it actually did help me with a couple of ideas and conclusions. And it is still much better than watching TV or drifting all over the internet - if you know how to touch the right buttons, it's actually quite a nice reasoning exercise. Plus, you actually get to talk to people from all over the world, all together, and I can't think of a better way to do this. ...But also of course that you're right, we do get slowly more and more virtual. So let's see, Preview, Submit, Sign Out, Close Window, Start, Turn Off Computer, Shut Down,... then Undress, Shower, Dress, Take Keys, Open Door and Go Out - hum, seems doable :).
(PS - not to forget - once out, Shut Door and Lock Door - nasty world out there...)

You need to adjust your timeline. 20 years ago, 1987, kids were still playing video games all day.
Say 40 years ago. Then kids would have at least been playing outside.
Though your assertion has merit, there is still some benefit to our online world. The average young person today knows much more about cultures outside his own, and is much better informed about the larger world around him, because of the internet.

I don't know. I'm not young anymore, I should be out playing basketball or at the beach but, it's cold outside and I don't have the energy to do physical things all day. Thats why I do this, maybe if I had mire money I would'nt hang out here, but I'm pretty poor.

Well, I'm on semester break and everyday I have to think, "What can I do today?" I go out and eat. I hang out with my friends. Mostly I'm on my computer. When classes start again then I won't have that much time on my hands anymore.

Excellent question. You are wise beyond your years.
Unfortunately, like you, many of us are hopelessly addicted.

So, why are you here now......to save us. We are just humans, and humans love to waste time and procrastinate.
Your mission is impossible. Go do your homework.
