In the first four answerers 2 of the 3 i was thinking of are named. Pattersons on Johannson and Frazier on Ali, the other i had in mind was Robinson on Fullmer.
I am hoping for plenty more answers that can bring back some great memories.

How about Ezzard Charles hitting Rocky Marciano with the left hook that split Marciano's nose down the middle.
Bob Foster hits Dick Tiger with a right upper cut and left hook, the only time Tiger was counted out in his career.
Joe Louis vs Max Schmeling II, the last punch Louis landed on Schmeling in the 1st round was a left hook that put him down and out.

Frank, this is an excellent question sir! Here are my top 4:
1. Sugar Ray Robinson's perfect left hook in the 5th round of his 1957 bout with Fullmer was amazing and Fullmer never knew what hit him. Fullmer was known for his ability to absorb a hard punch, but nobody could have absorbed that one.
2. Floyd Patterson's leaping left hook against Ingemar Johansson lert him unconsious on the canvas with his legs twisted and shaking uncontrollaby with a concerned Patterson looking on.
3. Joe Frazier's left hook against Muhammad Ali in the 15th round of their first fight in 1971 was a classic textbook left hook and it still amazes me that Ali got up and finished the fight.
4. Rocky Marciano was known mostly for his Suzie Q right hand punch but the left hook he uncorked on Harry "Kid" Mathews was devastating.

Frank, as far as boxing matches are concerned I agree with pretty much everyone else:
1) Floyd Patterson's leaping left hook against Ingemar Johansson
2) Ray Robinson against Gene Fullmer
3) Mike Tyson against Trevor Berbick and Joe Frazier vs Muhammad Ali - tie
But one that particularly comes to my mind actually took place in PRIDE ring. I know this isn't boxing but I just can't answer this question without mentioning it, I hope you won't mind. It took place in Roman Zentsov vs Pedro Rizzo fight. It was an absolutely perfect, text book left hook and one of the most spectacular knock outs I've ever seen in my life. Rizzo just dropped motionless.
By the way the fight was only 20 sec. long, if you haven't seen it just look - I guarantee you'll like it.

While i put Patterson's hook against Johanssen very high on my list, i have to say the best hook was by Robinson against Fullmer. It was such a short, crisp punch and he threw it backing up and still got so much leverage on it to do that much damage. Amazing shot! Two more sensational left hooks that come to mind are Mike McCallum's one punch KO of Donald Curry, a perfectly timed left hook that Curry never saw coming, and Mike Tyson's tremendous left hook KO of Trevor Berbick. Berbick went down 3 times from one left hook! Now that was a helluva shot!

Sugar Ray Robinson's left hook that took out Rocky Graziano was the blogbaba's personal gold medal favorite. The one Michael Carbajal KOed Chiquta Gonzales with in their first fight get's the silver medal. Frazier's knockdown of Ali gets the bronze.

Frank ~
"Gentleman" Floyd's Patterson leaping left hook against "The Hammer of Thor" Ingemar Johansson in 1960. Floyd timed this shot perfectly and caught Ingemar on the right side and dropped him right dead center of the ring. As Ingemar laid there in the center of the ring staring blankly into the lights above his left leg was left twitching. The shot was so amazing that boxing historians have dubbed it "The Greatest Hook ever thrown"
Thanks for the question Frank.

The left hook that Sugar Ray Robinson hit Gene Fullmer with in their 1957 rematch for the Middleweight title. It was dubbed "The Perfect Punch", and in 1997, RING voted it as the best Knockout in its 75 year existence. Even Fullmer didn't know what hit him. He recalled one time that he got up from it, and asked why Sugar Ray was jumping around between rounds. His corner just said to him, "He just won, they counted to ten."
