I'm just signed up fpr track @ my school. I hate running. What are the best shoes for running? What is the best drink? How do you practice running? What kind of clothes would be best? How should I wear my hair? It is very hot where I live, so I'm not asking for fashion tips just what are best to run in.

best shoes - go to a running store and let them look at your feet and stride, they can help you pick shoe that works. Tell them what kind of running you will do for track, and what events you are in.

best drink - water, gatorade, powerade, they're all good. avoid anything with caffeine like red bull.

practice - dont worry, your coach will help you with that! you will want to train almost every day, and expect a long run every weekend.

clothes - avoid cotton, it will get wet from sweat and make you chafe. get a good sports bra of lycra/spandex/polyester blend, and a pair of shorts and t-shirt of the same kind of synthetic blend.

hair - its a personal choice. I just like a ponytail to keep it out of my face.

I'm not quite sure why you signed up for track if you hate running???? Why not find a sport you DO like. Going into something with that sort of attitude isn't going to get you very far regardless of what you drink, what you wear, or how you wear your hair. Not being rude, just truthful!

as for shoes, nike! is best! get some light training shoes! you must start slow if you are not experienced runner! in fact, stretching before a run is important! you must get musles to loosen up before running! it depends on what you are training for, also! during summer, light shorts, a tanktop with nike shoes would be good. the best time to run is actually when it is cool, in evening or early morning! and remember, as far as fluids go, drink plenty of water, but not too much! gatorade is good source of potassium, which you need to keep hydrated! dehydration is common problem of novice runners. good stretching, warmups, and proper clothing will help you in learning how to improve cardo through running! NIKE IS BEST SHOE!
