This Government's philosophy IS that the freedom to live a homosexual lifestyle should always trump the freedom to disagree or follow the teachings of Christianity, Judaism or Islam.
As a Christian, I believe in the Bible’s teaching that all humans are my ‘neighbours’ and that I should love all of my neighbours equally. I therefore support any work done by the Government to promote such principles. However, I am very concerned that the Government proposes to go beyond these principles and encroach on every ones freedom of conscience.
Freedom of conscience should not be restricted to certain times of the week and to certain occasions (on a Sunday for a Christian, on Saturday for a Jew, and on Friday for a Muslim). A persons faith shapes a believer's life 24/7. This means that if the Government uses law to determine our opinions and actions, they seriously encroach freedom of conscience in this country.

This Gov wants to legislate against you

Is freedom of conscience important to you?

It is this Governments intention to halt comprehensive teaching from the bible in an attempt to silence the word of God:

God's word will become unlawfull according to New Labour.

Instructing or causing discrimination
11. —(1) It is unlawful for a person—

(a) to instruct another to discriminate unlawfully,

(b) to cause or attempt to cause another to discriminate unlawfully, or

(c) to induce or attempt to induce another to discriminate unlawfully.

Exactly..the government can't FORCE us to accept perverse practices even though it may legislate that we must.
Homosexuals and pro gay-rights people can't seem to grasp this.Think for a minute how you would feel if the government
legislated that you HAD to respect paedophiles' rights and HAD to accept what they were doing is not perverted.
you wouldn't agree..right?.. Well others don't agree that homosexual perversions is acceptable either.
I don't agree with 'gay bashing' etc ...it's abhorrent to me,but a hotel owner should have the right to decide who stays under his own roof.

I hear where you are coming from and entirely agree. The real issue is that religion or sexuality comes into it at all at a government level.
I have grown up being told that this is a christian country and yet I am not a believer and not a practising christian, although I do come from a christian family. I am on the otherhand gay.
The only cure I can see (is one which will never happen seeing as people identifying in each group have predjudice against others.
In terms of government, it is about time that fundamental principles of equality where adopted which did not seek to please a religious or non-religious group, but instead took a fresh look which said treat all people equally full stop.
You cant have it both ways that you treat people equally until you decide that you dont want to!! That is when prejudice comes into play.
e.g. I am gay and have a personal issue with religion but it does not mean that I refuse to serve/ work with/ communicate with someone who has strong religious beliefs and I find it objectionable that a religion claiming 'freedom of concsience' is a good excuse to avoid loving your neighbour and to act out a prejudice. Equally being gay is not a trump card it is simply a sexuality /preference etc and should never be used as a manipulative tool to gain more than others in society, in the same way as it should not be a reason to restrict or condemn an individual.

I should add that this is not a personal vent at you - this is a serious and sensible question- more a plea for REAL parity as opposed to equality when it suits for who it favours and where it gains the most votes.

These issues have been snatched up in media soundbites and government behaviour over recent legislative issues has been nothing short of latterday baby kissing on both sides of the religious/sexuality fence.

I do not believe that the government's philosophy is that the gay lifestyle trumps your religion, though no doubt your favorite TV evangelist tells you that it does every day, and naturally since he is the mouthpiece of Christ, you will unquestioningly believe him.

I am a recovering ex-evangelical, I know, I've been there.

But I am curious, how exactly do you want to express your freedom of conscience? I am not at all sure what the voices in your head, I mean, what Jesus is telling you he wants you to do this particular moment. There are certain niceties that must be observed in any civilized society, so some issues that one may consider as encroaching on freedom of conscience can otherwise be seen as issues of public safety. It's not okay to beat someone to death, or burn someone's house down, or vandalize someone's property, for example, because this person is gay, or of a different race or color, or ethnic background than you are.

You may believe in Bible teaching but you do not understand the teachings .You can talk to God every second of your life ,it is the people that have fixed a certain day of the week so that they can come together in fellowship with God. Which is important. AND who is this Grayham Norton??
