My grandson had his phone stolen at a party 3 weeks ago & my niece in law has just offered it to me in part payment of a kitten i'm selling. I want to get the phone back to my grandson without him knowing how i got it. how can i do that? I dont want to cause trouble for my nephew who had nothing to do with having the phone in the first place. it was my niece-in-law who was given it by a member of her family. my grandson would go mad if he knew & probably do someone damage & end up getting nicked. I dont want that to happen.

Thanks guys for all the help so far, the problem is that the phone has had all details removed from it....my nephew is a really decent guy & has been in a right state since his wife told him she had been passed the phone from her neice. I have since kicked her butt big time.

My nephew is so worried that by him being inadvertantly involved he will cause trouble right through the family on his wife's side. I have no problem letting my Grandson know who took it, but he would end up in prison, I don't want that. I only knew it was my Grandson's phone because my neice in law had the cheek to tell me the other night when she got a bit worse for drink....I feel so insulted that she would even think I would have anything to do with my Grandson's stolen property. I don't want her to have the kitten now, but it wasn't for her, it was for my nephew.....perhaps I should just say they can't have the kitten now for being involved in holding the phone for 3 weeks & trying to give it to me.

Oh my God!
Families; they'd get you hung wouldn't they?
I hear what you're saying about your Grandson being a bit hot headed & at the end of the day it's not so much the phone you're worrying about as the trouble it could cause for your nephew....I hope he's learned a lesson here & would never cover for his wife again in handling stolen goods....especially stolen goods belonging to a member of his family.

Right, all his info has been removed you say from his phone so you can't say the police called you then on your number that was in his phone........you're just having to somehow get it returned to him without him being aware of it. How about the next time you go to visit him you place it in a drawer at his house....failing that could you not just get angel-eyes to return it to him saying she's come across it but can't say where.....or some other trustworthy member of the family who you know won't spill the beans...hoping there is one of course.....
maybe your grandson needs to take a course in violent behaviour otherwise one day his bad temper will get him into a lot of trouble honey...good luck anyway, hope it all turns out well......

Hello Angel Ey.
Your grandson is not the thief here.
He has done nothing wrong it is his phone.
If you have it give it to him for all he knows it has been found and returned..
I would pull the young girl aside and give her a stern talking to as if she continues on with this behaviour she may end up in prison.
Tell her to get a little part time job and earn some pocket money and she can pay for the kitten honestly..
As for the cat will she be responsible in feeding and looking after it?

Take care!

Don't give this person any animal. How can someone use stolen goods as a form of payment??? Just tell whoever has the phone today to give it back to your grandson. Tell him to chill out. If he is dumb enough to do something to go to jail because they stole his phone, HE needs his butt kicked. Everyone needs to get over the Jerry Springer Drama and consider this a lesson learned. Avoid this thief in the future and this type of thing won't happen.
This whole thing is so crazy. Are you related to me? This is the type of crap my in-laws do.

i personally would not want to be involved with stolen goods........you need to come straight or i would with my grandson and tell him who has the phone..and if family steals from each other that is not good..........and your grandson has every reason to be mad..but the person that did this should not be trusted and the family should know.

lol okay

Well this one is simple if your number is in the phone tell them the ppl called you asked you if you knew who the phone belonged to {if you have caller ID you can back this up} and give it back to your grandson. However if you live in a small town like I do now we have a lost and found at our cable and radio station you can say you went there to see if anyone turned it in.

If this doesnt work remember ITS JUST A PHONE! Tell him buy another one and get over it

Ask your aunt to return the phone to her grandson and let him know that the police found it and traced it to her. Story closed. No one gets hurt!
