my favorite for ww2 is field marshall erwin rommel.
a pure military man who had no nazi affections.the only reason he was beaten at el alemain was beacause 2 thirds of his supplies were being sunk.the worst was adolf hitler,a military cretin who would not take advice.
ww1 would be haig and hindenburg respectively.

Mustafa Ataturk was one of the best in WW1 and German General Rommel was one in WW2 interestingly they are both from losing sides.
A young Winston Churchill made some strategic errors in WW1 that caused great loss of life and Hitler was the worst in WW2 his ego got in the way.

Worst in WW1 was Earl Douglas Haig. He sent thousands of young British soldiers to their deaths to gain a few yards of Belgian soil.
'Kill more Germans' summarised Haig's strategy as Commander in chief of the British forces in France during most of World War One. His war of attrition resulted in enormous numbers of British casualties and his leadership remains controversial.
Best in WW2 has to be Winston Churchill - his stoicism and stirring speeches during the Battle of Britain saved the country from invasion by the Germans. His resolve in resisting Stalin at the Yalta conference was instrumental in the collapse of the Soviet Union over forty years later.

Not sure about WW1, but in WW2 I'd go for Montgomery and Rommel as the best, and whichever British (I think) commander it was who lost Singapore.

I think the worst one was the German Marshall Paulus,
who screwed up in Stalingrad in 1942,or rather because
he did not retreat, even against Hitlers will even if he had
been shot afterwards,he could have saved a lot of his men.
And the second one being Goering by making a lot of
false promises, not to mention of what else he was involved
in.
