Just a interesting thing, I find myself believing in a God, but not in religion. But i was wondering why human nature is built up to feel the need to believe that there needs to be something more? Can we answer this with an open mind.

Because our designer (God) built that feature right within us. God specially leave an "empty room" within our hearts that only can be filled by him.

Many people tried so hard to fill this space with something else but not one is and will ever be succesfull. Try ask some of the rich/succesfull person - they would had try almost everything they can thing about to fill this need but still feels empty

For example many of them buy a fish & all other weird or even endanger animal as a pet, getting the best car, the best house, even adopting child now (which is seems to be a trend among holywood artist) but it will only statisfy them for a week or so then they will feel empty again.

This is what Jesus meant when he said "whoever drinks of this water shall thrist again (water from the well) but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him never thrist" John 4:13-14

I believe that each of us possess the need to believe and was put there by God when we were created. Remember He is the Potter and we are the clay, so He can do anything he wants.

But I think it still comes down to a relationship, something you can't have unless you know and believe in someone. God made us for his good pleasure and wants to be glorified through man by our praise and worship of Him.

Therefore, everything on this earth points to something bigger than ourselves. Others would rather believe in money, trees or bow down to artifacts made by human hands and call them gods. But man will always have to believe in something even if it is belief in himself.

I think you need to define "Religion" vs "Relationship." I almost hate that word because it causes so much confusion. To me religion is made up of customs, beliefs, and traditions (and other excess baggage) of mainstream churches -- so totally different from a real relationship with God. In other words, I believe you do not have to be "religious" in order to have a relationship with God

I find myself asking this question all of the time. I think that people believe in a higher being just to feel like they have a purpose. They feel the need to pass their "tests" on this earth so they can move forward after they die. I also believe that a majority of the religions were created in order to keep people "in line", if you know what I mean.

Plenty of people do not need God, and I do not believe there is something more because there is something more. I have no doubts because I have experienced. Your making assumptions to the wrong guy. There is all types of things we humans have no damn clue about, face it, we as a race are quite primitive. Something is here man.

For very human perfectness is like a dream, some people excel in there field but perfectness is what they lack, that's the very reason.
This imperfection generates fear, and this fear force us to find a shelter, a base..Knowingly or unknowingly this fear that comes with inherited imperfection left us only with two choice first to nurture your ego and live with it second make a model of perfectness aka GOD and then try to achieve the perfectness as described by your model..Even when you don't know you inner self dwell in this very own perception of yours.
This phenomenon is most suitable to most of us for growth as individual and as a group so GOD is needed...indeed!!!

hmm..most cultures believes that there is One high being, even if they believe in other gods (e.g greeks have alot of gods, but zues is The leader) humans with their high intelect, needs to know more of our begginings, so before evolution was a fact, they only thought "where else did we come from other than something or someone made us".

God is something that represents to us a higher being that is good, merciful, powerful, loving and the All mighty. It is said in a book that i read about religion that people embrace the fact that there is a God because we need to feel that someone still loves us, we need to feel that there is something better for us in the future, we need someone to blame for our misfortunes,we need someone to comfort us in our time of need and times of sadness....

so God is there only if we need him/her when we wish to. its up to your own judgement when we want god to be there, dont get me wrong i believe in god too, but in my times where im at work, having fun, or just occupied do i still think about god? thats a question you have to ask yourself sometimes. when do you believe god exist.

God isn't necessary, He just IS. It's His name even, for Pete's sake! I AM. You shall say that I AM hath sent thee.

And we are created by Him in His image so naturally there is within each of us a yearning to reflect that image, to BE the best image we can be.

Religion is supposed to be an aid in that growth and development.

It's probably an accidental by-product of some other human characteristic, e.g. our keen ability to spot other entities in our environment - other humans, potential predators and so on. We end up believing that there is something there even when there isn't.

We ask human beings need guidance and thus religion which is guidance. Without God's guidance we are lost. Religion is God's guidance. Now some religions may have strayed off the beaten path and that is man's "guidance".

The***PRAYNOGRAPHER***Will now dribble some words of wet, and wisdumb. The answer is very simple, unless you are one of these morons that just say"because it is there". Man created god to relieve himself of his guilt , and conscience by praying away his bad deeds on his fellow man.Go to church on Sunday, then kill for pay on Monday. Forgive me father fore I have sinned. HA, HA, HA, HA,Never mind.
