Usually, it is thrown out.
Hair that is cut is usually too short to be reused as a wig.
Salons and barbers are not supposed to sell or donate hair without the person's permission.
Hair can be donated to organizations like Locks of Love, which provides wigs for children with cancer or other diseases that have caused hair loss. People can also choose to sell their hair for use in wigs. In both situations, there is usually a minimum length (several inches) and hair that has been bleached before is usually not accepted.

Hi
Most actually chuck it away. There isnt much need for little bits of hair espeically as at a hair dressers everyones hair gets mixed up on the floor and swept away.
You can sell good condition long hair as people buy it for extensions and wigs but it has to be of a decent length.
I bought some real hair 20 inches long off ebay to make into extensions so you could try selling on there!

People who buy hair will only buy hair over 7 inches long.
the hair must tied up with all the root ends facing the same way.to find someone who buys hair look under the title
Hair goods. The hair on the floor at the barbers is thrown out,I once knew some one, who had a apple orchid he
would spread hair around, on the ground, to keep the deer from eating his crop.

We just throw it in the trash!! Unless we cut off more than 8 inches - if that's the case we donate it to Locks of Love where they make wigs for kids with cancer! I've actually had quite a few people come in and collect a bagful of hair to put in thier gardens, apparently it keeps the wild animals out!

I've seen my neighbourhood barber sweep up the clumps of hair into black trash bags, and then dispose of them.

mostly gets thrown away, if it is long (over 5 inches I think) some of them donate it to places that make wigs for cancer patients. I know of 2 places in my town that do that
