Every Marine is a Rifleman first and foremost. You may be interested in an Intelligence MOS. Searching for a skill that you can apply to the civilian world within the Military depends on the individual. It is all in how you relate your experiences.

If you are looking for a career after the military do not join the Marines. Regardless of your MOS, the Marines consider you a basic infantryman first, your MOS skill comes second.
It's just not a place to go for someone who is more interested in personal development after their service.

MPs, Combat Engineers, and EODs (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) are a few of the better known ones. In wars like Iraq, there is no front line. That's a plus for the Marines; you're better prepared for combat and self-defense than other servicemembers in support roles.

Every Marine knows that he is a Combat Marine.. it doesn't matter what your MOS is.. But shooting for avionics technition, mechanic on large trucks, computer related, MP (law enforcement can't ever hurt) those are some possitive ways to go. Just remember, you can't pick and choose your MOS.. you have to score high in those areas.
Good Luck

If you go armor, or still infantry, an AAV (amphibious assault vehicle) or LAV (light armored vehicle) crewman. You learn mechanics, machinist and electrical skills. You can go aviation and volunteer for enlisted air crew, and probably sent (law of numbers) to helicoptors, although you could end up in KC-130 cargo aircraft.

Most all Marines that are deployed see combat.
Look for something computer related..Most "Combat" type positions are not civilian, related.
