I was just wondering if you want to be part on the CID in the police force, do you need a specfic university degree?
Or,
Do you just join the police force as a normal police officier, and climb the ranks?

In our police service you must start out as a "normal" police officer and after a few years you can apply for the position. Training is usually offered by the police service or police college. You will get sent there by your police service to get the training if you are selected for the job.
You can't just jump into the job, you need the experience that being a patrol officer will give you.

you could use either method. I personally feel that having a degree as a police officer would help you out, but you probably need to have rank too.

A lot of street time plus an education never hurts. there is no way you are going to walk into a CID position regardless of your background unless its prior civilian law enforcement in CID.
