No I have not been treated by a psychiatrist and do not take any medication. However, I have family members and friends who have.

No, I've never been treated by a psychiatrist and I don't take meds.

Have you and do you?

Then that explains it all to me!

There, you have it!

If you spend the time and money to go see a psychiatrist (or any doctor, for that matter), you should follow his/her advice and take the meds as directed. Otherwise, why did you bother going?

Many psychiatric medications can take some time to work, so give it a solid 2 months before you decide if they helped. If the meds didn't help, then you can consider stopping them after you talked to the doctor to see if anything else might help.

If you don't like what the first doc told you, you can think about getting a second opinion.

No and yes. I see a psychiatrist, but I have a hard time taking my meds regularly. They help a lot when I am actually on them. I am just tried of taking pills. I have some medical conditions as well so I take a lot! Or at least I am supposed to.

I did visit a psyciatrist and after listening to my symptoms for less than 10 minutes, he diagosed me with 'major depression' and put me on some meds, which I took for about 5 or 6 days, but then my Guru (spiritual Master) decided to take things into His hands and I fell sick with Chickumgnya (fever with joint pains, nausea etc. ) and then fell in the bath room and was in the hospital for soft tissue injury etc. All forgot about the medicines and then found that I am much better off without all that stuff, and my primary care physician also agreed with me!

Yes and Yes. It was VERY helpful!! Some of those meds given can really mess you up if you don't follow the doctor's orders. Hope this helps!!
