i have self assurance what they're relating is the actual undeniable actuality that Western morality codes are in accordance to Judeo-Christian training including the ten commandments. there have been many cultures by the international which failed to share even this undemanding idea of "do no damage" so there is a few advantage the declare that they are unique. in case you made a more beneficial specific exam of your beliefs you may likely discover many different parts of morality that you share with Christians and Jews. inspite of this, the man's declare that you stole Christian morals is both unhappy and laughable. If, as we've self assurance, our morals were given by ability of God by organic revelation to the human race, they do no longer and not in any respect did belong completely to Christians. i'd say that you've embraced portion of that morality, even if you include the source or no longer. the man ought to were chuffed to discover undemanding floor with you rather than insult you. I remorseful about a fellow believer replaced into so rude and callous to you.

I think they convert to Christianity once inside. Christians reach out to those in prison; offering them hope & help.
I once volunteered in a woman's prison in Muncy, PA for 3 years. My aunt in Myrtle Beach, SC also used to reach out to inmates, as does my Mother now. All three of us are Jewish. I actually write, regularly, to a Jewish inmate in Florida, while I live in NY.

As an atheist I have a certain sympathy for the poor godbelievers when they ask this question. Imagine being brought up with the belief that there is a god out there who deals out rewards and punishments for your deeds. Of course such a believer is wondering why atheists behave well. It's a matter of imagination or lack of such.

Because criminal convictions are irrelevant to christianity. All they have to do is have a little chit-chat with their god and Jesus will mop up the blood for them.
They clearly consider the very existence of athiests and the like to be a far more grave problem than the rampant irrational criminal behaviour among their own kind.... afterall, whatever an athiest does in their life, even if it is only small, they won't go crying to Jesus to clean it up for them..... Which automatically means that unlike the homicidal maniacs, serial rapists and kiddy-abusers... the athiests won't be "forgiven"...
Hope that answers your question clearly. ^_^

Two of my close relatives work in the prison system. You would be suprised as to how many inmates put themselves down as 'Christians' because they were:
A)raised in a Christian home,or had parents who believed in God
or
B)because they are not Jewish
It's simply not accurate to say that majority are actually Christians who *don't* fit into those groups.

I see people answering that they are saved in jail...
but i would imagine that the statistics are taken on entrance to prison ....
why would they take your religious preference half way through sentencing ? or as you leave ?
no they wouldn't
edit
however i do agree with Serena's point
which also proves that the statistics for Christianity are way overestimated

i like to think that all people are naturally good inside. however that's a "wish" and this ain't no fantasy land.
christians are weak. simply put. they can't fathom not having a being dictate their lives, and that's why they question an atheists morals. if it wasn't for their god, they'd go apeshit.
which hey...if you need that to keep you on a moral and good path...have it. just stop leavin flyers on my f'n door k?

I think the reason is most inmates in the US are blacks. (That's not racism from me, it's just the way it is.) Most blacks in the US are Christians. Most criminals admit they are breaking their religious code, but have an excuse.
I don't think anyone questions that atheists do behave moraly, I think the question is why they would. What is the source of the morality? Without a Judge of Everything with the authority to decided such things, who has the power to say there is a universally applicable morality? If I say it's okay to kill retarded children, and you say it's not, who can say who is right?
I think the question is can an atheist logicaly say that universal morals exist, or if they must admit that in the context of their beliefs "morality" is not universal, but merely what we have decided for convenience sake to deem taboo.
I think you understand the issue.

Christians worry about atheists, cause by our beliefs they are going to Hell
John 3:16
Atleast (Christian) Prisoners know who God is, and if they are truly repentent, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
I also believe you shouldn't judge others, i know they are convicts, but they are not Jesus, he is the only one who is perfect.

You don't give any facts or statistics to back up your claim. Just pulling a thought out your **** isn't going to prove a thing to anyone with a brain. You can't use fallacy to make a valid point.
