Mercury is in a liquid state at room temperature. So you'd call it mercury. That's it.
Oh yeah, it kills.

It would not cause instant death. Not many things cause instant death. In small doses, like the amount you get in a mercury thermometer you would probably get away with very little damage . In larger doses over a period of time you would suffer nervous system damage and maybe like the mad hater, insanity and a slow lingering death due to nerve poison.Mercury was used to treat felt which was then used to make hats . Workers in this industry often went mad and that is the origin of the term "mad hater". Ingesting larger amounts of mercury , say , 25 to 50 ml would tent to produce mercuric chloride in the stomach due to the reaction with the hydrochloric acid digestive fluid . This amount of mercuric chloride would probably be enough to kill you by interfering with nerve pulses that cause the heart to contract.

Shock, system shock is just about the only thing that can do that. And it won't be instant, it never is, it is just short. Shock is generally speaking what really kills people. Their body could still function in a lot of situations but it just shuts down because it can't handle all the pain, or mental disturbance, etc. That's the problem with greentip rounds, they pass through the body so fast that people who have been shot don't even realize it so they don't go into shock. Then when they realize they are bleeding out through seven holes through their torso suddenly they collapse. How to generate that shock? I don't know, there's lots of ways, what does it matter pain is fleeting.

Well, it's certainly not a good idea to go around drinking the stuff!
I'd certainly want to follow the standard advice about "seek immediate medical attention" if it happened to me.
It seems to be mercury vapour, rather than the metal itself, that is the really nasty stuff. Even so, you are probably talking a long lingering demise from nerve and brain damage, rather than instant death, if your body absorbs a lethal amount.

Yes, you would die but not necessarily instantaneous. It is not toxicity of mercury that causes death, it is the physical damages it can cause like rupture of internal organs that is the cause of death. Mercury also combines with chemically rich body fluids and those salts can be render it toxic.
But pray, is mercury cheaper than water in your place? If so, i would like to setup a thermometer factory there :)

Yes it is so, because mercury being a heavy metal it pierces the intestine and causes instant death.
