No all Microsoft works all like condensed versions of the products/features on Microsoft office. Microsoft works provides you with Works Word Processor where as Microsoft office provides you with Microsoft Office Word. This is compatible with Word, but you don't get as many features in the program. Hope this helps.

No, Microsoft Word is part of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Microsoft Works 8.5 has it's own word processor program, which can save files in a format compatable with Microsoft Word

No, it does not include Word. It includes a word processing program which can open Word documents but I don't know if you can save to a Word format (i.e. ".doc"). If you want Microsoft Word, you'll need to get the Microsoft Office.

Just get OpenOffice. This award winning office suite is compatible with MS and other office suites.
