I want to know so i can do the splits

you have to stretch everyday for at least 30 min.
im a figure skater, and its really important to stretch on a regular basis. you can become stiff again if you dont always stretch.

start with strattle.
you sit on the ground with you legs as wide as you can. lean forward. hold for 30 sec. then repeat with reaching towards your left foot and right foot, etc. each position x3

stretch your hamstrings.
sitting down. put your two legs straight in front of you together. and reach for your toes, grab them if you can. dont bouce! you can really damage something. hold for 30sec, x3

stretch your hip flexors/quads.
its the one where you stand on one foot and pull the other foot behind you. keep your knees together and body/back straight.

another one for the hip flexors.
kneel down. hands by your sides. stick one leg out in front at a 90* angle foot flat. and lean forward with the other knee still on the ground. keep your back up straight and push your pelvis forward. you should feel it above your quads.

so basically you need to work on hamstrings and hipflexors. goodluck.

Watching my daughters at dance it takes lots of practice and regular stretching.

Gently ease into it and warm up properly.

just stretch. do a bit every day and you'll soon find you can go further and further. go down as far as u can. hold, take a deep breath in and as you breathe out lower yourself - you'll find u can go down a bit more. you'll get there.
