Change his time gradually an hour a day by keeping him up longer, he'll be more tired when he goes to sleep.

The only way to do it is give him a very limited nap and deal with the crankiness until he catches up on sleep on the other end (at night). You'll have a tough couple of days but eventually he'll be so tired from not sleeping during the day, that he'll sleep at night.

To get through the cranky times during the day, its all about "changing his scenery". Play in one room at your house, when he gets bored and cranky, move to another. take him outside, to a park, to the mall - a change in scenery will diffuse the crankiness temporarily. It should only take a few days, so just get in the mindset you will get nothing done for a few days and be exhausted but in the end it will be worth it!

He might be cranky for awhile but you need to limit his day sleeps. Babies only need a certain amount of sleep in a 24 hour period so if he is sleeping all day then naturally he will need to be awake at night.

Put up with the cranky for awhile to get your end result......which is a good nights sleep.

I made sure that both my boys only had limited sleep during the day right from the begining........they were never cranky, always happy babies......and they were both sleeping 12 hours a night by about 5 weeks old. It will be a little more difficult for you as he is older but be consistant.

As the other comment said change it gradually and he shouldn't notice.

Good luck

I know how hard that can be...The only thing that worked for us is "Solve your child's sleep problems" by Dr. Ferber. It has worked for everyone else I know too. If you decide to use this method, however, you have to decide to STICK TO IT! It is very hard at first, but well worth it in the end. If that doesn't work, or you are unwilling to try it you should talk to your pediatrician. That is what they are there fo, after all!
