A snail creeps 6 ft up a wall during the daytime. After all the labor it does throughout the day, it stops to rest a while... but falls asleep!! The next morning it wakes up and discovers that it has slipped down 2 ft while sleeping.

If this happens every day, how many days will the snail take to reach the top of a wall 14 ft in height?

next day, it is 4 ft from where it started. The snail thus travels 4 ft upwards every day. Therefore, in 2 days, it has traveled a distance of 8 ft from the bottom.
and on the third day it travels 6ft and reaches 14 ft...

Day 1: 6ft - 2ft (sleep during the night) = 4ft
Day 2: Start at 4 ft + Climb 6 ft - Sleep 2ft = 8 ft
Day 3: Start at 8 ft + Climb 6 ft = 14 ft Reached the top, no need to sleep. :-)

It depends on when the snail decides to take rest! (e.g. if the snail decides to take rest after climbing 2 feet but then he falls asleep.......................)

If he sleeps the same as on the first day then , willr reach the top at the end of 3 day.
