I would say Public School. Homeschooling seems like it would be very demanding along with all of the other demands of trying to run a household. Also, Public school gives youngsters a chance to socialize with other youngsters and meet people who are different from them. They also learn the importance of team work by playing sports and participating in class projects. If your child has some type of learning disability, the school has programs to give your child extra help.
On the plus side, with homeschooling you would have a GREATER say in what your child is taught. The state still has some say in what must be included in a homeschool curriculum. This would enable you to handle controversial topics such as gay/lesbian relationships, sex, or evolution as you see fit. You could also be more involved with your child's education. The instruction in a homeschool environment is more individualized. You would also not have to worry about your child being victimized by bullies, etc.
The choice is yours as both have their pros and cons. I would research the public schools in your area by reading and talking to other parents. Request frequent conferences with your child's teachers and ask how you can get involved with your child's education. If the Public school is not satisfactory to you, you might want to look into private and parochial schools.

In my opinion, homeschooling up to primary level is ok. There are many activities like debates, elocution etc etc in secondary school and it would be better if a child is introduced to it in an environment created in a public school. Children need to interact....they learn a lot through group discussions. They will also learn to be competitive which will help them in the long run.

homeschooled children tend to be more sheltered. I was homeschooled until 5th grade and then went to public school...it took me a while to get used to it I was more "innocent" then the other students. After a while i got used. I am a sophmore now and i like it. I think it is good to homeschool your children for a little, im not sure about all through highschool though.

Public school, especially if you're planning on sending them off to college. That way they are better adapted to recieving a formal education at a higher institute because they already experienced learning in the relatively same educational environment.

Personally, I don't have any kids. But I went to public school, and a close friend of mine was home schooled. When you're home schooled, you'e able to keep a closer eye on your kids, but they aren't able to interact as well in a multiple learning environment in the future. My friend is now in college, and he tells me how difficult it is for him to learn with other people around him. Another example is myself. I went to public school, but can learn anything better on my own, or through one on one teaching. It's all a matter of opinion, and it all depends on the person.
