most people never reach their natural genetic potential. the diet holds most people back next would be the lack of having a structured training program.

gains come very easy for those new to resistance training as the body is in it's highest untrained state. as you progress gains come slower and slower. it is almost always easier to constantly increase strength vs gaining muscle mass, even with a caloric excess. anabolism can not be perfectly predicted even with the best diet and training regimen. most people could train for 20 years and not even come close to their natural genetic potential.

I am by no means a genetic freak and I put on 100 lbs of muscle in the first14 years. at the 20 year mark I put on another 20 lbs of muscle in 2 years but I could not adjust to the high caloric intake nor wearing sweats 7 days a week ( 6'0 @ 270 lbs) so I dropped the weight soon after.

I have always stressed optimizing the training for efficiency and on nutrient and supplement timing, it makes the world of difference. if you want to body to respond to the training you have to give it the right tools (nutrients). it certainly takes many years of training to "perfect" the form in many exercises. but once you learn to manipulate the endocrine system through the diet and exercise gains in muscle and in the lose of body fat comes very easily

Muscles can't continue getting bigger forever. Since you've only been at it a year, that's when you get the best results. The longer you pump, the slower your results will be.

I gave advice to someone the other day. Here it is -- After your workout it is very important to have a Whey Protein shake within 30 mins. Your muscles are starving for protein. I highly recommend Optimum Nutrition. It's delicious and you WILL notice the results. Best wishes.
