Robert is an old Germanic name meaning "bright fame." Famous Roberts include Robert The Bruce, King of Scotland. I think it's a fine name.

I think it is a little old fashion, but thats me. You see I am a teacher and I have had a few roberts so I tend to think of those children that share the same name and think hmmm, maybe not. I like Jake or Ryan as a strong male name with hardly any nicknames to be made from it.

robert is not a bad name but may be if you give your son nathaniel it will be a good name since there not many of them in the world so think about it and after all almost all these people are intelligent so consider this

Very, VERY common name. Plus, BORING! The most important thing when choosing a name is just to be thoughtful. Choose a name that goes well with the last name, has meaning (beneficial to the child), and doesn't lend itself to terrible nicknames, like Bob. It's great to be creative, just don't get crazy, because this child will have to live with the name for the most important formative years of his or her life.

Does your hubby like bob cos this is what your son is more likely going to be called. Go to the nearest book shop and get a baby name book, loan one from a friend or the library.

I like
Liam
Lee
Keegan

also whatever sits nice with the surname

Robert is a pretty common name. I'm not a big fan although I don't hate it. I know several Roberts.

Robert sounds nice but the few Roberts I know shows that they are very inteligent but too proud of themselves, they show off a lot and are not very responsible fathers. They are people "who know it all". You will be lucky if yours will behave differently!
