Imported olive oil is expensive. So cant its price be reduced by growing the plant in India?

May be because of climatic condition and soil. Besides olive oil is not v. popular with the masses.so no one must be interested in growing it because of enhanced cost of production.

Actually, olive is grown in India, pakistan and afghanistan. But growing olives is not economically feasible. Because most of the regions have high frost risk. Most of the olive varietals cannot stand temperatures lower than -7. So no agricultural investor woul take such a risk
