Trying to ward off Alzheimers, are you? Good for you. Suggestions we give our patients and their families:
1. Do word searches, crossword puzzles, sudoku, and the like frequently. It really is like exercise for the brain.

2. Never stop learning new things. Take a photography class at your local vo-tech, learn to paint, take up karate, anything. Just keep learning. It keeps the mind younger.

3. Stay hydrated and get plenty of sleep.

4. Do things that really make you think. Maybe for you that's journaling, writing a book, discussing politics with real solutions, go to church and ponder eternal life, learn a foreign language, whatever gets you going.

5. Take up yoga. The deep breathing gets more oxygen to the brain and is really beneficial.

6. Help some kids with their math homework.

well you need to eat right, and get your sleep to start off, then reading, and doing word find, and just anything that would changellen your mind, cause the more you learn, the more you are going to increase your memory. If you are not learning anything from the things in your life, then you are not really doing anything, you need to keep your mind active, during the day, and changelle it, and at night, let it rest, and you get some really good sleep, and eating right, really helps too.
