Schizoaffective Disorder is not very well understood. Many psychiatrists consider it a variant of mood disorders but some see it as a variant of schizophrenia. Basically the only difference is in Bipolar Disorder psychotic symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations are only present when the person is experiencing a full mood disorder episode. In Schizoaffective Disorder the person has full mood syndromes concurrent with psychotic symptoms but has delusions and/or hallucinations that persist after the mood symptoms remit. The brain is a very complex organ and much more research is needed to better understand schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and major mood disorders.

They're sort of similar. Bipolar disorder is a disorder in which a person switches between manic and depressive states of mood. Mania is characterized by things like being overly euphoric, optimistic, more of a risk taker, sometimes paranoid or suspicious (among other things. this is a quick summary). Depression is characterized by things like sadness, guilt, hopelessness, etc.
Schizoaffective disorder occurs when a person shows psychotic symptoms along with those of a mood disorder. Symptoms of psychosis include delusions and hallucinations. A person can have either depressive- or bipolar-type schizoaffective disorder, so a person diagnosed with bipolar-type would be similar to a person with bipolar disorder, only they would also have the psychotic symptoms present.
The references link a couple of good wiki articles on the disorders. Hope this answers your question. :)

Bipolar is a condition which takes you to two extremes -- Depression and an Amphetamine-like high. Schizoid personality is basically withdrawal from society and living in a fantasty world.

Hi, you have six questions happening at the moment, bit confusing as I wasn't sure which one to answer. You have a huge interest in mental health and medications, ever thought you should train to be a mental health nurse, that way you are doing good stuff, and learning all the questions to your answers.
