I want to start smoking and I am old enough to buy cigarettes. If I do decide to begin, how hard will it be to quit? I've quit other bad habits cold turkey without any problem. Let me know what you think.

I think It's different for everyone...someone can stop cold turkey just like that while with another person, it may take a few times using the patch or lozenge or whatever. But why would you want to start? You may have quit other habits cold turkey, but smoking is something a lot of people have trouble with. Like I said, everyone reacts different when trying to quit the sticks.

Cigarettes are in a completely different league from everything else that is quitable. For too many people, the hardest thing they will ever do is to quit smoking.

While you are a smoker your immune system is likely to go wayyy down and you will experience more colds and flus. You will also stink. -- Those are the reasons I quit, but I was one of the very lucky ones, because quitting came easy. Not so easy for my friends who have not been able to kick it as hard as they try.

its very hard. how hard is it for you to just refuse the temptation of trying out a "smokers life" in the first place?
its hard eh? do you think about it when your really pissed off? do you think about it when others smoke around you?
do you think about it even when your alone and not pissed off? well.... thats how hard it might be to quit after you start- just as hard as not starting at all, but maybe harder.

your an idiot you don't smoke and want to find out how to kick a habit before starting it. That's like asking about illegal drugs. Or asking how easy is it to stop drinking before you decide to become a drunk.
