They actually tried the bubble boy thing, but he did not live very long because of the fact that the bubble didn't work. But, the bubble boy was not immune to anything. It was kind of like, if he was playing in a sandbox with other kids, which is seemingly natural and clean to us, this would be a problem because he had an adverse effect to normal bacterial that is all over the place. AIDS isn't quite like that where we have to sterilize every single thing around us.

First, the cost of that would be astronomical and I doubt many insurance policies would be willing to cover a lifetime stay in a sterilized enviroment. Second, a patient's quality of life would be so compromised by that sort of treatment, the treatment might be worse than the painful effects of the disease itself.
HIV can also leave people vulnerable to certain cancers which would not be prevented by simply sticking them in a sterile enviroment.

It is inconvenient. It is terribly expensive. It is tremendously unlikely that a normal person could run a sterile room the way it should be for very long.
It is also highly unlikely that it will do anything more than the current drug spectrum already does for the patient to protect their immune system. For example, it is a bit like saying "people get hit by cars. If I never go outside, I'll never get hit by a car!" Pretty drab existance, no?
In short, it is exceedingly unpractical.

Can you imagine the cost of ptting 41 million people in a bubble?
How then would they function anyway?
And remember even if they are in bubble, The HIV is still gonna kill them.

The cost of placing millions of individuals in a sterilized environment would bankrupt the health system.

I personally wouldn't want to stay cooped up like that for the rest of my life, I'll take my chances.

What a horrible quality of life that would be. I don't really want to live in a bubble, thanks. I'd take my chances. We all die one day anyway.
