SRi Sri Ravi Shankar is messenger of God. He is showing u the way to reach God. So for us he is the most important person in our life. It is our expression of gratitude for the path shown by Holy Guruji that we respect him and address as Parampujya. As we belong to Him and Sri Sri Ravishankar is the means then he is most respected by us. He has never called himself GOD. God is within u only and holy guruji is helping u to manifest God who is within u. When we bow before an idol we have the feeling that we are bowing before God because we feel that our needs and desires will be looked after by the deity. We want to have comfortable and successful life and Holy Guruji is teaching u the Art of Living. So instead of entering into such controversies, just follow teachings of Holy Guru ji and dicusss ur problems in elevating urself spiritually and he is here to solve ur spiritual problems and manifest God within U.

With all the respects to Sri Ravi Shankar, let me appeal to you that these people are either for making money or fame.

These kind of references only make our religion a mockery in the eyes of others.

God is little more difficult to find than Ravi Shankar Ji. Shri Ravi Shankar knows it, but will not like to comment on it. It just does not suit him to comment on this.

Go and ask SRI SRI PARAMPUJYA he will tell you whom he is WORSHIPPING. If he says to worship SSP then he is not even fit for a GURU.If I title you as SSP will you become GOD ? Your Guruji will be ashamed of you for having asked such a question. If you like your Guruji, show your respect,do NAMASKARA but never call him God. (At least until his survival )

JAY GURUJI

Jai Gurudev! Every human being on this earth are born for certain cause and effect. Likewise, for the people of AOL Sri Sri Ravi Sankar is Guru for members of AOL and he is really God to members. Before becoming members of AOL, they are ignorant of what is AOL and were doing many Yoga and were not practical in knowing the truth of life. Having come in contact with the members, they understood that they human touch alone gives happiness and brings harmony in one's life. We have taken him as Guru and not God since there is only one Almighty who is being worshipped by common man to Yog Purushas and Mahatmas and even the Avataras from time immemorial. Guru like our Shankarji guide us to know and understand the truth of life and know the reality and experience the wisdom of Great Personalities.

Padma Purana says that there are four different paramparas (disciplic sucession) giving out the knowledge of God.
1. Sri Sampradaya -Sri Ramanuja,
2. Brahma Sampradaya - Sri Madhavacarya
3. Kumara Sampradaya - Sri Nimbarkacarya, and
4. Rudra Sampradaya- Sri Visnuswami

One should accept only their teachings and accept a guru in one of those lines. One should not accept a self-manufactured guru who falsely claims oneself to be God or the followers who falsely claim himself to be God

A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder-acharya of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), who is coming in the line of Brahma Sampradaya - Sri Madhavacarya sampraday, makes pertinent points below:
One must take shelter of one of these four sampradayas in order to understand the most confidential religious system. In the Padma Purana it is said, sampradaya-vihina ye mantras te nishphala matah: if one does not follow the four recognized disciplic successions, his mantra or initiation is useless. In the present day there are many apasampradayas, or sampradayas which are not bona fide, which have no link to authorities like Lord Brahma, Lord Siva, the Kumaras or Lakshmi. People are misguided by such samprdayas. The sastras say that being initiated in such a sampradaya is a useless waste of time, for it will never enable one to understand the real religious principles.

The guy will die soon and he won't be able to come back to life by himself. Then you will know he's not (a) god. Is he your "idol" perhaps ?
