Does anyone know how long it takes to get a I-551 stamp in your passport? I thought it was the same day. Just want to check because i made appoinment with immigration to get one.

If you made an appointment with your case worker and that worker has processed your application you should get it that day . A stamp on a passport is quite easy and is handled locally . Your green card wont be there though. You will get that mailed to you . I had mine stamped 2 months ago at uscis newark.

An immigrant receives the stamp on arrival in the US with his or her immigrant visa. If you are adjusting status, it will take longer because you have not yet gone through all the checks and documentary qualifications that immigrants from overseas do before they get their visas.
