I have always wanted one, recently sold my paid off 02' Pontiac Boniville (great car) but always wanted a jacked-up jeep. Currently looking at the 06' Wrangler 4x4. Any advice for a off roading country girl? Thanks!

I have owned Jeeps for years and have loved them! As long as you know that they ride rougher than a car and are not race cars then you will enjoy them. They are short and turn pretty sharp so it is easy to get around town & get into parking spaces but it's also a vehicle that is one of if not the best off road vehicles made. A 2006 is a excellent choice because they ride much smoother than the older leaf sprung models and the 6 cylinder is very reliable. If you need more room for your stuff you could buy the Unlimited which is longer and would even give you a better ride than the regular Wrangler. There are many modifications you can do to them and the aftermarker accessories are almost unlimited, so take your time and I believe you may never go back to anything else after a Jeep!

They are a bit bumpy and you will feel every knick and cranny in the road, but that's the joy of owning a Jeep. Also, you could compare the gas mileage as those of some trucks, not to good in city, but ok on the highway. They are very easy to turn and you can park them just about anywhere with no problem. Just be sure that if you get one not to turn too sharp too fast because you will take the risk of rolling it. As for off roading, if you get a stocked Jeep (one that has everything factory), then you could put a lift, bigger and wider tires, and suspension on it. Also, you will be amazed at what a stock Jeep can do without any upgrades added. I absolutely love my Jeep and I am sure that if you get one you will love it too.

Hope this answers your questions.

I like my jeep and I have only had it for a few months. The handling on a jeep when it is lifted is different than a stock vehicle. It is wobbly ( lack of a better word). It will take some getting used to driving it but when you get used to it is is awesome. I have had to do some work on mine like any other vehicle. Mine is a 2000 with only 52,000 miles on it most people see the low mileage but the stuff was seven years old. Just like any other vehicle if you maintain it properly it will work when you need it. If you lift it there are many options from cheap to break the bank but remember you will have to get larger tires which are not cheap, different wheels same as tires not cheap. But you won't regret it have fun good luck

I stay in southern Arizona the place we've a super kind of ranches and lots warm ladies using Wranglers and massive Dually pickups pulling horse trailers and there is not something dykish approximately them. that's the place I in many circumstances propose against a Wrangler as a on a daily basis driving force, because of the fact the gas mileage is undesirable and massive tires purely make it worse(greater rolling resistance), passenger and load area is limited, highway and wind noise is severe. bypass on the 4 door fashions for a 2 door with a gentle precise. White with a tan precise would desire to be purely the value ticket. One warning whilst using a Wrangler you will desire to be a solid shielding driving force. have relaxing and be secure.

Terrible warranty (even though it looks good), horrible gas mileage, and they break down. Believe me, this is my third one and I'm done. The problems that I've been having with Chrysler Corp and the dealership are unbelieveable. Once you drive that car off the lot they'll never be nice again.

Get a Toyota or something else that's not going to break down. Don't listen to me though, there are complaints all over the internet about it and the problems are real.

My throwout bearing just blew to pieces on my jeep and broke a whole lot of stuff involving my clutch and the only thing that Jeep is going to pay for is the throwout bearing itself.

I'm in the process right now of finding a lawyer.

Seriously, don't buy one.

Great choice of vehicle. They're great offroad vehicles stock from the factory, but can easily be modified. They are very dependable, and not bad on gas either. Start with a lift kit, and bigger tires, then install lockers front and rear, and you will have a pretty nice offroad truck, and something that will attract guys.

Jeeps are great. It is the only vehicle that I have ever wanted. They are loud and they don't go very fast, but they are dependable and easy to get around in. They are kind of hard to handle when it is windy out and you have to remember not to turn to sharply in them because they will turn over. I say go for it and get one. You will be happy that you did.

they are awesome. I bet if you get one that your next vehicle will be another jeep too. most folks that go with a jeep become faithful jeep followers and lifelong owners.

enjoy!

the army stopped useing them years ago. if they were any good , they would have kept that product. that said, they break down a lot, and the handling / ride really sucks.
i convert them all the time to a chevy power train, motor, transmission, transfer case, and front and rear axles.
and then they are reliable.
