I found a few governmental sites that will help with regulations, etc. But please listen to those who know best - people from England. Take their advise and go on an extended vacation to see exactly what life is like outside of the touristy stuff before making the move.

DON'T!!

I have just left the UK and will never go back. I was born there and have lived there for 32 years.

More British people are leaving the UK now than ever before, it's a shame.

If you still feel that you must go there, as far as I know, you will be fine, there are no restrictions or visa to enter the country, but as for working, you might have to visit a UK government website for further info.

My advise is visit there first for a few months if you can. I guarantee that you will want to go back to the US very quickly.

Please don't get me wrong - I LOVE the UK, I really do, but I can't live there anymore, it is no longer the same place that it was when I was growing up.

Good Luck

Look sorry if this comes across as rude.

But people who don't come from England seem to think it is this great place...

It's not... !! England is going extrememly downhill...
A lot of people would leave if they had the chance..!

I know an American couple from Minnesota who wished they had never moved here.. their daughter HATES it compared to where they were before.

Just please SERIOUSLY think about this. Having visited USA and having family over there..I personally think that you should stay there. If you don't like where you are.... move to a different area...

Especially if you have a family or are thinking of having one.

It's not all it's cracked up to be here. I'm sorry but thats the truth.

Go to www.immigrationinfouk.com it will give basic step by step advice. I went the other way moving from London to California and the immigration system in the U.S is alot harder to get through than USA to UK.

You will want to move back home sooner than you can think... if you are truly American you will never be able to live in another country.
