I am a fellow truck driver, wondering why people act so stupid when they get around a tractor trailor. Please enlighten me to why people act like they have no brain when there is an eighty thousand pound vehicle rolling there way?

hey brother, I wish I knew the answer to that one. But I have had incidents where fellow truckers have done equally as stupid things, i got run off the road once, i was loaded he wasn't but he was coming around a corner on the wrong side of the road. Another trucker coming onto the highway on the merge lane, didn't even look if anyone was in the lane. Again I was loaded I had a little car by my left rear tractor wheels so I wasn't moving. I conciously decided that he was going in the ditch if need be, because I was heavier and travelling faster than he was. At the last moment the little car must have appreciated the situation and suddenly put the hammer down. I sure don't want to hurt anyone, but if they are that stupid what do you do.

My wife and i are team drivers. we go to Cali and back every week. I hate LA, I hate LA, I REALLY HATE LA.From the 210 in Pasadena to Indio, it took over 5 hours. Now I try to be very patient and courteous, but after an hour that goes out the window. Thank God we have an Automatic Freightliner. In 10 years you can ask that same question you'll get the same answer. Nothing will change, only it will get worse. More idiots with DL's. People hate to be behind big rigs. They will speed up to pass you then slow down, if you try to pass them then they will speed up also. Go figure?

No, I don't think it's easy - but I actually tried it at some point of my life. Most car drivers just have no idea what it is, that's why they act stupid around semis sometimes. I hope I was able to teach my wives and kids to act smarter, though :)

you think you have it bad, try operating trains!

Now enlighten me as to why even some truck drivers stop on the tracks and put their 80,000lb trucks in front of my 12,000,000 lb train.

It can take over a mile to stop a freight train at 55mph, with full emergency brakes. by the time we see you at the crossing, it's probably too late. All we can do is apply the brakes, lean on the horn, and hope for the best.

I for one am considerate to you truckers, and I've even benn known to start conversations on my cb with you guys.
