It does go bad, to check it add a little to some warm water with sugar, stir and if it bubbles it's alive and you can use it, if no bubbles happen don't waist your stuff, buy new yeast.

If it's a dry yeast don't use it anyway. It will make cheap tasting beer. Go to your brewing supplier and get some liquid yeast designed for the style of beer you're making. It will improve the quality of your beer 200%.

Yeast is cheap enough, buy a fresh batch.
