this may not apply to everyone. I live in the suburbs where not surprisingly the christian community is about 98% of all living forms around here.
when someone asks me "are you christian" i simply go "no , i am not religious"
they look at me like i have blood on my hands. and it disappoints me to see a beautiful independent woman judging my morals and character based on a simple answer and question.
your thoughts?

I agree. To be able to be that judging of someone, one must know what they are truly judging. When you say you are not "religious", for all they know you may be meaning that you do not attend each and every service or pray on your knees for hours a day, yet still have your own beliefs. People (especially hypocritical "Christians") are so quick to condemn someone who does not believe the same way they do or live up to what they think Christian standards are. I believe that this will always be an ongoing issue in society and there isn't a thing we can do about it. Might be time for a move possibly??

I can relate. I was raised in a religious home. As I got older, I began to ask WHY. That's strike #1. Religion is not an issue where that word should ever be spoken. By asking why, you are doubting faith. Fine. So I thought everyone can be religious except me. I don't need organized religion. Going to church (a building designated as a place of prayer) on Sundays doesn't make you a good person. That's something you practice every day. I've experienced some odd things with religious people. Once, someone told me I'd be struck by a lightning bolt if I entered a church. So be it.
I say religion is a something people need to explain the unexplained. People want to believe that some super being has the power to change their lives. By doing that, they don't have to accept responsibility for their failures and disappointments. I believe you reap the rewards of your efforts. I alone is responsible for my well being and future. If I don't reach a goal, there's a reason for it. Either I didn't try enough or something was out of place. People function like puzzle pieces. Each person is trying to find where they belong. Religious people are like the puzzle pieces that just wait for other pieces to come their way. They're content with thinking they don't control their future.

i discover it humorous that throughout your outrage you insult the "fundie." then you certainly leap to an illogical end that this is for the reason which you like her. however you're making me curious. Why do you like her? If I had the time i might leaf by using her solutions. i ask your self might i discover a stable Bible believing Christian or a watered down spiritualist? maximum stable Christians are disliked no remember how they word their solutions. concepts you i'm no longer asserting one element approximately her i'm only musing to you. As mom Theressa become enjoyed via many on the two sides so too ought to Debra. Why she become referred to as "honest weathered" i won't say. If the "fundie" is an American they can't say one way or the different as very few persons have confronted real persecution and hence our climate prestige is undetermined and worse unchallenged. i'm nonetheless stunned on the stupid issues asked and replied in this internet site and thanks to this I nonetheless examine and respond.

If people judge you on that kind of an answer, they are not "good christians" as I believe the saying goes. then in all reality, they are not people who you should want in your life. Living in the suburbs is always hard, all I can say is, wait tilll you are on your own, and pick a city to live in and you can be yourself and find people that aren't so judgemental.

It could be worse you could actually be a guy like me that finds the thought of christanity (for me) to be repulsive. I know what you mean. I think of it this way, that if they get to choose what they want in a man and if they think that the lack of christianity out wights my other qualities well then that is there choice. I know that it sucks man but there will be plenty of girls that will find that you are worth considering, because you have to work harder and emphasise your other abilities to get noticed. If you just show them who you are they will have to reconsider. I know it is toughf man but it is not as bad as you think. It keeps the really shallow girls away. Unfortionutly it dose keep a lot of the nice ones from wanting to get closer.

Not all Christians are like that I'm sure - but I got the same feeling - it's almost like they are looking down on you or they think that they are better or maybe they think that you should change. I live in a big city now and it is really different...better.

Then think about this. You met a test and by her standards you failed it. That is not her fault you did not meet her expectations. People live in communities. she lives by choice in a predominately Christian one and you have chosen to live there. Accept the consequences of your actions and quit your BIT*HING!
