Lots and lots of water, all through the night and the next morning too. Aspirin before you go to sleep and as soon as you get up. And a nice greasy breakfast. MOST IMPORTANT, limit yourself to 4 drinks or so through the night if you are an average sized woman, maybe 3 if you're tiny. If you alternate water with your drinks, you won't have to ever feel like you're "waiting" to have a drink or "not drinking." Have a good time!

There is no way to avoid the hangover. Avoid drinking large quantities water. This will usually cause you to throw up. Eat something before you start drinking, this will reduce stomach irritation. Liquor shots are the hardest on the GI tract, so avoid too much straight liquor, and be shure to chase with something. A glass of Alka Seltzer or baking soda water by your bedside may help when you wake up. Wish you a happy 21st, and be shure you and your friends have a safe way home!

Hangovers from drinking alcohol are triggered by more than one factor. Certain brands of drinks may not suit a person. That is simply because the drinker's body may not be able to properly digest that brand and end up with a hangover the next day. Hence, most drinkers stick to a specific brand.
Drinking on an empty stomach or not eating proper food after drinking also causes hangover. Dehydration from excessive alcohol consumption combined with loss of fluids from the body through sweat and urine is one more reason. Chasing your drink with a sweetened soda sends sugar levels of the body high- the undigested sugar in the alcohol and soda causes a hangover. Sleeping immediately after drinking or falling asleep while drinking is one more reason for hangovers.
Mixing drinks should be avoided. Avoid taking any medicines, at least two hours before drinking since some drugs tend to "amplify" the intoxicating effect, causing a severe hangover. These include anti-allergics, sleep aids, painkillers, anti-hypertensives and so on.
The best way to prevent a hangover is to eat a salad with plenty of fiber at least an hour before drinking. Also, eat a lot while drinking- bits of cheese, boiled egg etc...not chips and other junk that contains chemicals and preservatives. And after the drink, make sure you have a good meal- preferably meat- since all the acid generated from the alcohol digestion-is effectively used to digest it.
And above all, make sure you get a complete and good sleep after drinking. This helps the body to eliminate undigested alcohol and its effects. Avoid drinking sugared beverages- coffee, soda, tea etc- since the sugar and caffeine aggravates the hangover further
The best way to get rid of a hangover is- take an Alka-Seltzer with aspirin and 2.5mg Nitrazepam or Diazepam- immediately after you wake up and on an empty stomach. This combination has a magic effect and pulls down even the worst hangover down in less than 30 minutes.
But remember, Nitrazepam and Diazepam are Benzodiazepenes and used to induce sleep. They can be addictive and often will not be available across the counter at pharmacies in most countries.
I know people who take a 400mg Ibuprofen (Brufen) pill before drinking to avoid hangovers. I have tried it a couple of times and I admit...it DID work.
So go ahead...CHEERS !!!

drink a glass of water and take some ibuprofen/aspirin/tylenol (whatever headache reliever you prefer) right before you go to bed. that usually does the trick.
sticking to the same drink works SOMETIMES, but you might still feel a little crappy the next day if you're dehydrated.
i've heard those anti-hangover pills ruin your buzz.
if you still end up with a hangover, i suggest the following things (in the order that they work best for me personally) and of course with lots of water:
-V8 (works the best for me, i swear it's like magic)
-Airborne or EmergenC
-Gatorade
-Vitamin water
-Greasy food
Or the almost guaranteed cure is to drink again- you don't have to get drunk, but maybe drink half a beer or something.

Throwing up is not normal. If you drink so much that you need to vomit, you have a problem. Don't poison yourself. Drink a lot of water to avoid dehydration and make sure you have eaten a solid high protein meal before you start drinking. Also, avoid sweet drinks.

Yeah the drinking of lots of water just before you go to sleep is the best prevention I know. Its what I do and it works for me. And there is science behind it too. See alcohol dehydrates your system so you need to replace that fluid because if you don't it constricts your blood vessels around your brain and neck thus the headache. The tough part is, usually when you get home and ready to go to bed you don't feel like you can drink 16 ounces of water but you need to try and force it down. You may end up peeing alot but it beats that next morning headache. when u get up drink some more water or orange juice...Good Luck!

If you hate getting hangovers, sip and look as though you are getting into the alcohol. It's your 21st, so don't make a fool of yourself, just wander around making sure that your guests are having a good time. After all, hosts are meant to wait on their guests. This way you will remember your 21st pleasantly, rather than looking back and cringing that you made a galah of yourself in front of your friends and family...Enjoy

Drink to socialize, rather than to get drunk. Have a couple of drinks, then switch to soda for a couple ... then back to your alcoholic beverage. Keep this up for the entire evening, then have something to eat when you get home. If you like shooters, limit them to one or two, through the course of the evening. Try not to mix your drinks and stay away from known hangover causes ... such as Tequila and draft beer.
BTW: Happy 21st Birthday!! :)

Lot's o' water. The trick is that you have to drink it before bed though, as well as the next day. And eating something the next day helps, too. I'm convinced that a lot of the hangover experience is dehydration and lack of sleep. Alcohol screws up your whole sleep cycle.
