what is the difference between deferred and suspended sentence?

A deferred sentence means the sentence will be not have to be served if you meet certain conditions. Such as, stay in school, go into rehab, make restitution, etc. Fail to meet those conditions and the sentence can be imposed.
A suspended sentence means the punishment will not have to be served, no conditions are set, but if you violate the law again the original sentence can be reimposed. For instance, you get nailed for a DUI. The judge fines you $500 and sentences you to 30 days in jail but suspends the jail time. You pay the fine, you don't go to jail. Get arrested again and the 30 day sentence can be reimposed.

Suspended sentence means the charges have been dropped (no time in prison). Deferred means that the sentencing has been postponed (or defferred) and will take place sometime in the future.

in case you're asking with reference to the y/a account, and the 'public' yahoo account via which you receive your loved ones, employer, acquaintances, usual Webb searches, etc. your y/a 'suspended' account has no effect, or a minimum of mine wasn't. BTW "there is yet another question AND answer internet site obtainable" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only registered in, and it become like looking / assembly an old pal, whom you have missed plenty !!! WHAT A BLAST !!!!!!

deferred is when it has been cut shorter than what it was and suspended is when they terminate it.

They both mean postpone or delay.
