I can not tell you how many times I see people in the left lane fix there speed at the exact limit and thumb their nose or seem oblivious that they are causing backups and accidents! Everyday in the Bay Area, I see mostly asian and indians think they have the right to 'cruise' in the the fast lane! I just came back form France...you know what they do? THEY ARE COURTEOUS TO OTHERS by not staying in the left lane, leaving it open for passing. AND THEY USE THEIR TURN SIGNALS!!

BY law, the speed limit of any given road is the amount of speed safe under the conditions (weather) and driving, keeping up with traffic. So for all those victims of road rage, GOOD!! YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN DOING 55mph in the left lane on a 70MPH stretch!!!

WHY do you think you have the right to use any lane other than the right one, to crusie at the posted speed limit!!!!

And for anyone raising any stink, remember, driving is a PRIVLEDGE, not a right!!

In CA, the driving test is in 33 different languages!!! Every frickin immigrant should be slapped for taking the test in any language besides English!

And those that drive without insurance!!! LIFE TIME OF INDENTURED SERVATUDE IF YOU CAUSE DEATH OR DISFIGURMENT!!!

Mooshie - you're the person I'm talking about. If you actually READ your booklet and the law, you'd see the EXACT limit of speed is directly related to the speed of traffic aroiund you and the weather permitting! The posted speed limit is pposted limit, nothing else. I've successful fought over 4 tickets when a cop pulled me over and the person in front of me or surrounding people were doing the exact speed I was keepping up with and within TWO car lengths breath between us.

Numbskill, think again moron!

TRAFFIC LAW 22348

(c) A vehicle subject to Section 22406 shall be driven in a lane
designated pursuant to Section 21655, or if a lane has not been so
designated, in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as
practicable to the right-hand edge or curb. When overtaking and
passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, the driver
shall use either the designated lane, the lane to the immediate left
of the right-hand lane, or the right-hand lane for traffic as
permitted under this code. If, however, specific lane or lanes have
not been designated on a divided highway having four or more clearly
marked lanes for traffic in one direction, a vehicle may also be
driven in the lane to the immediate left of the right-hand lane,
unless otherwise prohibited under this code. This subdivision does
not apply to a driver who is preparing for a left- or right-hand turn
or who is in the process of entering into or exiting from a highway
or to a driver who is required

Thank You. I moved to the Bay Area after living in Germany for 9 years. There are even signs all over our Highways here that state "Slower Traffic Keep Right" yet, they are ignored. Then there are the hundreds of moving road blocks where all the cars are stuck at 55 and the world was doing 80 until these cars got online. I wish just one CHP officer would start clamping down on these non-driving incompetents.

In a perfect world, everyone will follow ALL traffic laws. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. So if you are going to get upset when someone does something that you don't agree with, you are wasting your energy. And just so you know, not all states designate the left lane as a passing lane (like Florida). At certain times of the day, it may only be used as a carpool lane, but not necessarily a passing lane.

I disagree with your statement saying "By law, the speed limit of any given road is the amount of speed safe under the conditions.........". At least in Florida, if you are traveling above the posted speed limit, even by 6 or 7 miles, you will definitely get a speeding ticket. It won't matter if you are the only car on the road or if you are going with the flow of traffic. If they feel like giving a ticket at that moment, they simply see it as exceeding the posted speed limit (as designated by law) and will ticket you accordingly.

If there going the speed limit it should not matter what lane there in. If your speeding, well to bad for you. What makes you so special. It takes a not of nerve to complain about people who obey the traffic laws when you don't. And if keeping up with traffic means exceeding the speed limit. Well you need to slow your happy a s s down.

You numbskull. The speed limit is whatever speed is posted as being the speed limit. A secondary condition--say, if you were to get into an accident and be sued or whatever--is whether or not the speed you were actually going was safe, given the conditions. But in NO CASE is the accepted speed limit greater than that posted.

So people drive in the left lane at the maximum speed allowed by the posted speed limits. Good for them, and you and your road rage can just find something else to feel all huffy about.
