No, not really. Everyone has always thought these are the end times. True today we face many negative influences, much to large to list. But consider the dark ages...we did manage too emerge from their and conditions were substanitally worse, just the globe itself did not face problems. Always consider that the natural earth, as well as the humanity that inhabits it has two completely seperate threat lines, even if one is causing the other to have difficulties. Thus it would be hard to determine what would go 1st, and since things have been worse its a tad illogical to assume we all die now. But who ever knows for sure? we don't.
Selfish? either the planet will be destroyed by time or us...its only a question of how soon.
Although the paranoid do like to conform everyone's beliefs too thinking we are doomed within the next few decades. The optimists say it will be billions of years. Just find a happy median and live for today my friend.

You should have NO doubt that these are indeed the “last days”.
We have Israel reborn and Jews back in the Promised Land, a Jerusalem, a temple mount, an angry Arab confederacy surrounding them and the technology to facilitate Armageddon already in place.
We have the Jews still awaiting the Messiah that they missed. We have 2.14 billion Christians awaiting the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ to usher in the Millennium. We have over a billion anxious and heavily armed Muslims awaiting the return of Ismail's son Muhammad whom they believe disappeared down a well and is the next Imam.
I think it is pretty clear that Islam’s awaited Imam is Christianity’s False Prophet.
Islam’s Imam was once here, now is not, and yet comes up out of a well. Christianity’s False Prophet was once here, now is not, and ascends out of a bottomless pit.
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. Rev 17:8
One thing is for sure, we can’t both be right, so there is going to be a HUGE showdown at the O.K. Corral in Jerusalem soon.

The fact that there is strife within and among the churches MAY be one of the signs of the end times.
Most of what you will read about the end times are pre-millennial views: the view that Christ's return will usher in a future millennium of Messianic rule mentioned in the book of Revelation before the final judgment. The believers of this doctrine also hold to the notion of a Rapture of the righteous beforehand.
Others hold that there will be only one second coming of Christ, at the time of the Final Judgment.
Then there are mixtures involving the views of the seven year tribulation and whether it is happening now, will happen later, etc.
These doctrines all fall under the general heading known as the study of end times, or eschatology.
For explanations of the various eschatological beliefs see: http://www.religioustolerance.org/millenni.htm
Some groups, such as the folks over at http://worldwide.familyradio.org believe the final judgment will be upon us sometime in mid-2011!

EVERY generation since the apostles has thought that theirs were the "end times." Those who predict Jesus' IMMINENT return are USUALLY MISINTERPRETING the scriptures.
2Peter 3:8 Dear friends, here is one thing you must not forget. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years. And a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow to keep his promise. He is not slow in the way some people understand it. He is patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed. Instead, he wants all people to turn away from their sins.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar. Fire will destroy everything in them. God will judge the earth and everything in it.
11 So everything will be destroyed. And what kind of people should you be? You should lead holy and godly lives. 12 Live like that as you look forward to the day of God. It will make the day come more quickly. On that day fire will destroy the heavens. Its heat will melt everything in them.
Peter tells us:
Heavens and earth will be destroyed... [Don't be looking for an Earth-bound kingdom. (John 18:36 Kingdom not of this world) The kingdom of God on the earth is his church. (Mark 9:1 Jesus said some of his hearers would LIVE to see it) Many Christians today seem to have the same misconceptions of God's kingdom which were common in the time of Jesus on the earth. ]
The time will be unexpected.
We should always try to live like it will happen TODAY.

rich: As a Christian, I do NOT believe that this is the "end of the world". I believe in the end of the age though. A lot of things have to happen before the last days of the last days arrive. It is self-evident with the way things are occurring on this "space ship" called earth. With Global warming, both, North Korea and Iran arming with Nukes, pan-demics knocking on the door, and the adverse weather - not to mention the waning economy - something is in the making !!!
Rest assured though, Jesus Christ will return to the earth to straighten the mess His creation [man] has made !!! In the end, we ALL will WIN !!!

It takes a seriously narcissic and selfish mind to wish that the whole world will come to a horrifying, blood-drenched, cataclsmic end just so they can get the unbridled joy of seeing everyone who doubted them suffer and gloating over them.
This is a revoltingly sick revenge fantasy, and I'm glad that the people who believe in it aren't running the world.

I'd be disappointed. We can get way worse than this, i mean we send our kids to school, we still go to church, we don't rape, we're still nice to each other in-person. people were railing about the next generation being corrupt since ancient greece. It's definitely selfish, just because you see war and greed doesn't mean we're all lost forever.

These are the last days. As far as the world going with Believers in Christ. Well sad to say that the majority in this world will stay behind for the tribulation. So anyone seeing this REPENT! Jesus is coming soon.
