Hi! I am catholic and have found that this happens in all churches and religions. Us making it through this tough life is not always fun. God asks us for consistancy not perfection. The church is made up of imperfect, selfish human beings. The world is made up of imperfect and selfish humans. You are experiencing holiness. You are making such beautiful progress that demom forces are attacking you with "holy resentment. " I confess that as a sin and work every day to stop becoming "comfortably numb". You are reaching the stage called "the dark night of the soul" and it means you are hitting the level of holiness where you experience some of what Jesus experienced. All we can do it be consistant. Good days will come but if you are to grow in holiness don't expect a rose garden. We accept the cross. The cross is sometimes boredom, loss of direction, depression, and people getting you mad. Don't give up---that's just what the devil wants. Keep plugging along and give this suffering you are going through to God and ask him to change it into blessings for your kids or husband. A wife of a deacon is a holy woman and is a hard job. I am the wife of a deacon -to -be and already am seeing these situations. I will pray for you sweet, strong, compassionate, kind and holy lady! God Bless!

If it not worthy of the bestowals of God's grace in patience, and joyous spirit, for at least one soul, then it is useless busy work, and must be put side for the worthy actions, and rest which empowers them.
That being said, God will test His servants to prove whether they are true to the core of their being, so that every human weakness of flesh will be rooted out in favor of relying on His divine perfection in Spirit. Even Christ's body needed rest, but so great was His soul that anything anyone asked of Him with humility He was pleased to provide, for the Spirit needs no rest, but is all-powerful, and all-loving. I'm not so great as He, and I don't expect it of you or anyone else, though it is a worthy goal to attain, if you and God are both willing.
God bless.

*Proverbs 10 :22 ..The Blessing of the Lord , it maketh rich , and He addeth no sorrow with it . * Matthew 6 : 19 - 21 .. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth , where moth and rust doth corrupt , and where thieves break through and steal..But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven , where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt , and where thieves do not break through and steal .. For where your treasure is , there will your heart be also ..* James 4 : 5 - 7 .. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain , The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy ? But he giveth more grace , Wherefore he saith , God resisteth the proud , but giveth grace unto the humble ..Submit yourselves therefore to God . Resist the devil , and he will flee from you .

When people are put in an impossible situation, they don't cope with it very well, because it's, well, and impossible situation.
It is SO the church's fault, they put you in an impossible situation (not the congregation, the higher up's who defined your role as "having to do everything" while refusing to pay for you to live, freeing you to do their work).
Of course you had a short fuse.
If the church organization refuses to see reason, find another church.

It is very common. Its just Satan working to get you and your husband to burn out.
You and your husband need to talk ,plan how much you will do for the church per-year.
Then go to your Pastor(he is probably over worked too.)
Tell him this is what we will do per-year.Only this many hours per-week/month.
Satan steals a lot of Christian joy,by over burdening the willing to work.
Our Pastor just preached on this.He said He will only work so many hours a week. His family comes before anyone. They are his first calling. We have over 2000 people in our church. It is always the same people who volunteer.Pastor will only allow people to volunteer so many hours,so they do not get burn out.
Pray and ask God what He has for you to do,then do no more.
God Bless.

Must Jesus bear the Cross alone, and all the world go free?
No, there's a cross for you, and there's a cross for me.
The Bible teaches, "In your patience possess ye your souls."
The word "patience", at its root, means "the ability to suffer or endure hardship without complaint.
When you get a chance, look up the etymology of the words "patience", "passion" and "compassion".
Yes, serving the people can be a lonely and thankless experience...just ask Jesus. You're in good company...if you continue in his way.
(Assuming, of course, this is a truthful account.)
Pick up your cross, and...

I've seen it. It's tough to draw a line between service and personal time, in my opinion. The church will take what you give, in service. I think you need to manage how much is given.
