Do both. Chances are, if you live in a bad area where crime runs rampant, locking your door will only postpone the inevitable. Since no one can physically prove God protects anything, praying won't hurt.
Be practical and safe.

Since God doesn't much care about Messengers and Prophets being stoned and brutalized, since it demonstrates their willing to suffer for the uplifting of humanity, until you're ready to showcase such devotion to your martyrdom then I'd suggest locking your door, windows, and possibly adding fire retardant to your house, amongst other safe guards, if you offend people as much as they have.
On the other hand, if God wanted you dead, for already having completed your best progress and work on earth, you'd be dead.
So be glad, for evidently you have great works and improvement ahead of you...
