Hey, what the hell is an "A.O." scope? There is a NcStar scope (Item# SEFR62450G) that I am interested in putting on my 30.06 Will this scope hold up on the recoil of the .30-06? Everywhere I look on this scope it is on a damn airsoft gun website... WTF would you need a 24x scope on an airsoft gun for?! Let alone ANY scope on an airsoft gun...... Thank you very much for your time.

Like sub_moa said......AO stands for adjustable objective - meaning the bell or objective at the front of the scope can be dialed in for the specific range you are shooting, like 75, 100, 200, or 300 yards. This adjustment gives you the optimum clarity at a certain range. I'm not sure about the brand you speak of, but if you are mainly seeing it on airsoft (what a plague!) then I would avoid NcStar and go with a traditional brand like Tasco, Burris, or Leupold. When considering the scopes ability to handle the recoil, I personally had a Bushnell (cheap one from Walmart) that broke under recoil from my .243 Winchester. What a disappointment that was. So I bought a better scope and haven't had any problems since. So stick with what works. And yes I agree....WTF do you need a 24X scope on an air gun? People always over power when buying a scope. Most of the best shots in history were made with small power scopes. Carlos Hathcock (USMC sniper, Vietnam) made many long shots with a 10X Unertl on a 30-06, and a 2500 yard shot with a .50 cal that had a Redfield 8X sitting on top. I tried a large powered scope once and trust me, unless its a true bench rest rifle, you just can't see through 20X or more when its on a hunting rifle. Stick with what works and put a 3-9 or 4-12 X on your '06 and enjoy shooting accurately.

As has already been said, it stands for Adjustable Objective. And the reason you find NcStar scopes being advertised for airsoft guns, is because if Tasco is the McDonalds of the optics world, then NcStar would be the street hot-dog vendor with roaches infesting his push-cart. Seriously, steer clear of NcStar.

For a .30-06, go with at least a Nikon. A Burris would be better.
