I want to lose my stomach and sides from having a baby nine months ago. Im walking on the treadmill ( Im sweating!) 30 minutes and doing an ab workout every other day... Im also starting to do weight watchers. What else should I do. Am I exercising enough? I just want to lose like five lbs and my sides and stomach. Help me!

Im 5'4 and 130lbs.

Adequate exercise should be at least an hour a day for weight loss, but it doesn't all need to be at the same time - 20 minutes in three blocks a day tends to be the easiest way. This can be anything - treadmill, stairs, sports, etc. Also, to ensure the exercise actually does you any good, your heart rate needs to be at the right spot.

To find this, calculate your maximum heart rate by subtracting your age from 226 (220 for guys). Now, you need to aim for your heart rate during exercise to be about 50 to 70% of this amount. At the 50 to 60%, it's good for warming up, and more benefit is from 60 to 70%. Going from 70 to 80% is more for cardiac fitness and it kinda makes your heart big, not really essential unless you're training for a marathon.

So when you exercise, whatever you do needs to increase your heart rate to the right level and maintain it at that for a total of an hour a day. That's the exercise bit. Of course, you need to make sure the diet side is taken care of. If you want to lose weight, you'll actually find that dieting makes the bigger impact (Weight Watchers is an excellent choice).

You can not lose fat in individual areas without surgery, sorry. The way to firm up your sides and stomach is to do exercises that use the muscles in those regions, as this will make them bigger and tighter and make the sides of your body look trimmer. Boxing and abs would be the best choices, but see a personal trainer about this.

Good luck - but, seriously, having a nine month old is enough exercise. Just wait till the kid's two, you'll have a washboard stomach for sure :-)

Exercise everyday like jogging around the block
Skip meals. Eat 2 times per day than 3 times per day
Dont eat until you're full
Eat fruits at night if your hungry.
Drinks lots of water and stop all the fast food and chocolate.

Good for you! Sounds like you are off to a great start!

Doing ab exercises will not help you lose "weight" in that area, but will add tone and definition. The cardio will help you burn any fat in this area.
