Oh God.

Parenting! There are 50,000 or more messages from people talking about when, where, how, with what implement, and why they often they hit their children. They are all looking for others to tell them how much they appreciate their decision to hit their children and deny that it is "hitting". All sorts of excuses, from "I only do it once over clothing" (as if that justifies it) to "Your 2 year-old is crying for 'no reason'? ('No reason' seems to be a favorite amongst people there). Beat her a** with a belt". It's like being in a horrific alternate universe. They've formed a sort of cult to discuss why they a. enjoy hitting their children, b. think it's the GREATEST discipline EVER, and c. offer ridiculous excuses (much like our lawmakers) for why hitting someone smaller, defenseless and completely trusting is not assault. When anyone opposes, they are told they hate their children and want to get them killed near the hot oven.

For goodness' sake, anyone not watching a toddler near a burning stove should be locked up for child abuse, let alone those who actually smack their babies for it! With these justifications for physical violence ("oh, the government can't get involved because I have the right to 'discipline' my children - as if sugarcoating it with the term "spanking" or physical punishment is somehow alright), it's no wonder some people can think straight.

Seriously, someone mentioned that using plumbing pipe or electrical cords will "really" teach a lesson and thus "it won't have to be done as often". I should not go there again. Bad Laptop. (Sobs). I will never be the same.

Several it seems, but I wouldn't worry about that. The R&S folks are made of stronger stuff than that.

Peace!

I hope not. It would take years of therapy to sort them out.
