Someone asked me today about gym memberships and the ability to transfer them. I just got off the phone to my gym and they said you can transfer but there's a fee. Does every gym have a fee? What is that fee usually?

I know this is what grandpa used to say, but it is even more important today......read your contract, word for word, and make sure you understand what is written.
Some allow you to transfer, but if the other person does not pay you are still liable.
Gym contracts are very one sided. I had trouble finding a gym, just because of all the BS. One place required an auto debit from a checking account. Problem was I checked out the company and they had many serious complaints regarding charging after cancellations, not abiding by state banking laws that supersede any contract language, charging outrageous fees, etc.

It varies drastically between gyms. It depends on the policies for that particular business.
