Your family MD should be able to help you with that. Mine diagnosed my clinical depression, and referred me to a psychiatrist. Your doctor can decide if you need extended care for this, or if it is something that is fairly simple and can be treated under their care.

Most doctors are qualified in the indicators of depression. They deal with it on a daily basis. You may be high risk according to a web survey, but as you say there is no point jumping to conclusions. If I took a web survey on my smoking habits boy I wouldn't like to see the results, lung cancer etc. But today I am feeling fit and well, so there you go. I am not tearing of the the doctors just because I know I am 'high risk'.

the same person who does your check ups, if you feel you need an evaulation. You can check up on yourself too. Just because youre 'at risk' doesn't mean you are depressed. How do you feel generally? When you wake up and get out of bed? Is it worth it? Do you ever feel like you just can't handle anymore of this? Do you feel sometimes like you're moving around in a fog and nothing is important or meaningful anymore? All very relevant questions to ask yourself

The best way is to call your regular doctor and ask them for some names of psychiatrists they recommend. Call a couple of psychiatrists and tell them your issue. Make an appointment. They will do an assessment. They may want you to see a therapist or they may want to try you on medication. Or maybe they will have other suggestions. Don't be embarrassed or afraid to follow through. Please take care of yourself and get some help.

All doctors who have legitimate licenses are trained in depression so you can see any doctor. Why do you need a doctor to find out if you have some form of depression?
You know you are depressed - what have you tried to do about it? What responsibility or role are you going to take in fixing it?

If you suffer from depression you would either see a psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, a therapist, or a social worker. Only a psychiatrist can prescribe medication for depression. A general doctor can also prescribe medication.

See your family doctor, and explain your concerns and
if you need medication or to see anothe doctor, they will
arrange it. Don't listen to what others tell you about
being depressed. You know if you are or not regardless.
It's impossible not to get depressed at some time in your
life. So don't worry, you will be fine.

Talk to your regular doc, they will give you a referral to a psychiatrist.
psychologists also help with illnesses like depression but they are unable to prescribe medicine.
