if someone grossed 10k/month, after taxes or whatever, how much would they actually net.

In US: If they were single, approximately $6K. assuming they were contributing (and maxing) their 401K.

If you gross 10k a month after taxes, you will net 10k a month, not counting living expenses. Living expenses are up to you.

If you mean 10k a month after social security, Medicare, state and federal income tax withholding, insurance (medical, dental, life, disability), savings (401k, stock purchase, ...), it depends on your benefit package at work and your choices.

If you mean 10k a month before all that, again you have choices, and now your answer depends on your filing status, dependents, and deductions, such as charitable contributions, local taxes, mortgage interest, and business expenses. In other words, there is no quick answer.

too little info to answer. how many exemptions for dependents? how much in itemized deductions? any ira or 401k? employee or contractor?
