First of all, quit taking the medicine until you speak or see the doctor. This sounds very much like a drug allergy. Next, draw a cool bath and throw in a few handfulls of oatmeal. Even the instant stuff will work- though try to avoid the flavored varieties. After a short soak in the tub, get out and air dry. Cooling the skin usually helps settle the itch. If all else fails, she can take a very hot shower, then switch it to very cold. This overloads the nerve endings and sometimes will cancel the itch for a while. If you have any of the sunburn sprays to kill the sting, they also work to help limit itch. If the hives don't stop showing up, she might do best to go to the emergency room. They will have Benadryl, both shot and tablet, as well as other things to help with this problem. If she starts having any breathing problems, stop it all and go to the ER.

The itch reliever in Benadryl is a histamine blocker. Your mom can take an allergy pill or use some nose spray with an anti-histamine. That should help some. Also, a mix of oatmeal with water, to make a paste, applied directly to the rash area on the skin should soothe the itch.
Have your mom stop taking that medication and let the doctor know that she had an allergic reaction to it. There are plenty of other things they can give her.
If she has any other symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, etc., get her to the emergency room quickly.

That can be serious if her throat begins to feel tight. Your best bet is find the benadryl! any place has it!
There is no other solution, the rash is secondary worry about her airway!

Aloe Vera jel provides relief for most skin problems. Check to see if she drinks plenty of water.
