Hi, i'm 16 years of age and i seem to already started a habbit of tying knots and pulling my hair as you can also refer to it as trichotillomania. Does it develop any long term side effects for hair loss in the future? I am really trying hard to stop but it's hard to when i'm thinking, or stressed out.

I would go see a doctor to see if it really is trichotillomania. People with trichotillomania have actually managed to make themselves almost bald because of all the hair they've pulled out. Some people have trichophagia as well, meaning that they eat the hair they pulled out. This can cause all sorts of digestive problems.

As for future hair loss, it all depends on the person. Some poeple have no adverse effects. Others had permanant bald spots that they now cover with wigs. You may or may not suffer long term damage. There really isn't a way to tell. What is agreed on is that pulling out your hair definitely isn't a good idea.

Again, I would strongly urge you to go seek help. It isn't just something that you can stop. You need help to control it.

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://bitly.im/aMM1X While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

No, this is not good for your scalp and on top of that, your hair is like a rubber band; made up of elasticity but that doesn't mean that it has the strength of a rubber band. Your hair can only take so much pull before it starts to snap and break off. You really don't want to do that to your hair. Try to be gentle with your hair and take care of your scalp because once the scalp is damaged from pulling out from the roots, eventually it won't grow back and then you will develop bald patches.

I found a good site in regards to your situation.

Yes. Continuous hair pulling will result in permanent hair loss.

You should talk to your doctor about referring you to a psychiatrist. They treat trichotillomania.

Once your scalp has bald patches, your hair will no longer grow back. Once it's gone, it's gone forever.

Please get help soon, for your sake sweetie.

Pulling hair can cause permanent hair loss if the follicles are somehow damaged.

As we get older, there are many physical changes in our body that we cannot really stop. One physical change that is feared by many is hair loss. Some people begin to grow bald as young as the age of forty. For some who has the money, they are willing to spend fortunes just to make their hair grow again. Here is a cheap and affordable way to avoid hair loss. What is most important is that you can do this at home anytime you like and if you practice it while you’re still young, hopefully you would not have to worry about hair loss anymore.
Steps

1. Take the hibiscus leaves and the aloe vera, wash them thoroughly.
2. Cut the leaves into smaller pieces and grind them together. You can use a dry blender for this step. Do not put water. Make sure the mixture is properly blended
3. Apply the mixture on your hair and all over your head. Massage your head to make sure that the mixture touches the skin as well. Let it be for about one hour. Use the shower cap to cover your head and let it rest for an hour before you wash. Do this twice a week.

Tips

* You can do this before you go for your morning and night shower. If you practice this method for about 2 months, you would have more vibrant and shiny hair. What is more important is that there should not be anymore problem of hair loss. Try it.

Warnings

* Make sure you wash the leaves thoroughly before using them.

Things You'll Need

* Hibiscus leaves (about ten pieces)
* Aloe Vera ( one or two pieces)
* Shower cap
