Yes... and Yes...

I know 'christians' of all denominations who arent truly Christians, they just attend the 'club meetings' each week....

but I know catholics who are actual Christians... or Lutherans who are actual Christians... (just examples, not judging or bashing) but i know just as many that are catholic or lutheran (methodist/episcopalian/whatever denom you wanna name) that are not Christians... even some who say 'I am a xxxxxx , not a Christian'

but attending a church doesnt make you a christian... it goes beyond, into the relationship you have formed with Jesus Christ, once you accepted that free gift of Grace that He offers to everyone

To be a Christian means that you believe in Jesus. To be a good Catholic means that you follow the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church believes in Jesus.
Ergo, a Catholic can be a Christian, and a Christian can be a Catholic.

A true Christian is a follower of Christ. Someone who has put their faith in Christ's death and resurrection as the only way to eternal life. Repenting of ones sins and turning away, and following Christ constitutes being a Christian (being born again). Can a Catholic be a Christian? If the above criteria is met. All Catholics are Christians. Some Christians can become Catholic if they are not yet Catholic. They can ask to become part of the Catholic church. I don't know what they have to do to become Catholic. If they have not yet been baptized, they must get baptized. Then they have to go to a Catholic church. Then maybe they have to go to confession. Later they can be confirmed and they may also receive Holy Communion if they want. They have to go to a good priest or ask a Catholic friend to help them out.

Christianity has three main limbs: Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestantism. All are Christians, so yes, Catholics are Christian.

My sister-in-law said that the Catholic Church is not Christian. This is very very arrogant, because according to her, only Christians who have the "Hallelujah, I just got saved!" experience are Christians. Not so! Just because Catholics aren't Christian as *she* believes what constitutes being a Christian, does not make them un-Christian. Their status as Christian doesn't *have* to fit HER narrow-minded understanding, or lack thereof.

This compares to, for example, if Sunnis claim that Shi'is aren't Muslims. Yes they are. They are two limbs within the same religion of Islam.

If you are Catholic you are fully Christian. If you are Protestant you are semi-Christian. Catholics were the only Christians for most of the history of Christianity, and the only Christians Christ ever intended to exist.

A Christian is a disciple of Christ. A disciple is a very disciplined person that is ready to be obedience to the Lord; the disciples even rejoice in giving scrifice for the work of his/her Lord! That is the Paradigm apply to the discipleship in the times of Jesus. Now every Catholic or Protestants or people from any sect can evaluate whether he/she is a Christian.

A Catholic IS a Christian. Christian is the generic name for any religion believing that Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sins and was resurrected. Catholics, Protestants, Pentecostals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists, etc. are all sects of Christianity. Like how Americans can be Floridans, Californians, Oregonians, etc.
