It depends on the infection. Different antibiotics are given as treatment for certain infections. Amoxicillin is a moderate spectrum antibiotic so there is a good chance that it might. It belongs to the penicillin family so would cure anything that could be cured by those antibiotics.

What a doctors office should do is send a culture of your throat to a lab to determine if it is indeed strep. The lab should also test different antibiotics on the culture in a pe tre dish to see what one will kill the bacteria. There are different kinds of antibiotics to kill different Bactria strains.
Anyone using antibiotics should always supplement their diet with a supplement called flora you can get it at many health food stores. An antibiotic kills good bacteria in your Colon needed to kill off fungus and other bacteria. The flora is the good Bactria and you need to give it back to your body in supplement form . Highest level of bacterial colonies should be used

Amoxicillin is not a panacea -- it can not cure everything. YOu may be cured of some other problem or in the case of a lot of women you may have a problem caused by the antibiotic, such as a yeast infection. Good Luck -k-

yes, it will cure you of other infections as well. it is indicated for other treatments such as lower respiratory infections, infections of the ear, nose, and throat. H. pylori infections. skin and subcutaneous infections. and of course the one most men are concerned about gonorrhea.
All antibiotics are not the same. they treat different types of bacteria and some are more specific than others. but, amoxicillin is a pretty broad antibiotic for strep type infections.

It should. antibiotics attack all bacteria not just your strep. That is one reason many doctors dont like doling it out with recless abandon. It destroys the helpful bacteria in your system and also over time stuff becomes resiliant to it.
