A tanning bed affects the surface of the skin before invading and damaging deep tissue and organs. If she really stayed too long she would be horrible burned like a severe sunburn. So I would think that this story is an urban legend set up by moms who want their daughters to have beautiful skin in their old age.

Uh, no. Definitely not true. Her skin may have been burned, but tanning beds don't get hot enough to "cook" your insides. She could have died from other causes while she was tanning, though. Like maybe S.B.S., ("stupid bride" syndrome).

It wouldn't have cooked her insides but if she had certain medical conditions, by not following their instructions the tanning bed's rays could have contributed to her death.
